Skydive Fiji 10,000ft Radical Tandem Jump - 30 Seconds Freefall over Denarau
The Radical is Skydive Fiji’s entry-level tandem jump — 10,000 feet, approximately 30 seconds of freefall, then the canopy ride down to Denarau Island. It’s a proper adrenaline experience with the Fiji backdrop that makes this jump visually distinct from most skydiving destinations: Mamanuca reef visible below, Denarau lagoon on the approach, and the chance of a beach landing on arrival.
If the Legend jump (13,000ft) feels like too much commitment for a first skydive, the Radical is the right starting point. The freefall is shorter — 30 seconds versus 60 — but the experience is the same aircraft, the same instructors, and the same view.
Jump options compared
| Name | Altitude | Freefall |
|---|---|---|
| Radical | 10,000ft | ~30 seconds |
| Extreme | 12,000ft | ~45 seconds |
| Legend | 13,000ft | ~60 seconds |
The choice between them is essentially about how much freefall you want. The views, the instructor quality, and the landing are the same across all three.

What the day looks like
Getting there
Hotel pickup is included from Nadi and Denarau area accommodations. Be in your lobby 15 minutes before your scheduled time. If you’re staying outside this zone, make your own way to the office on Denarau Road — it’s on the right just before the bridge to Denarau Island from Nadi, and easy to find.
The total drive from most Denarau resorts is under 10 minutes. From Nadi Airport, multiple reviewers note it’s about 20 minutes and describe it as a good first activity on arrival day.
Briefing and gear
After check-in, you’ll watch a safety briefing video and be fitted into your harness. The briefing covers exit position, what your body will experience during freefall, and the canopy ride sequence. It’s thorough without being lengthy.
Skydive Fiji staff include English, Hindi, Fijian, Japanese, and Chinese speakers — useful context for international groups.
The flight up
The Cessna climbs to 10,000 feet with an open door. The ascent gives you time to watch the coastline grow smaller and the reef appear in the water below. Most first-timers report their nerves peaking during the climb, then settling.
Freefall
At 30 seconds, the Radical’s freefall is enough to register as a genuine freefall rather than a flash of wind. The physical sensation is all noise, speed, and disorientation — in the best possible way. Your instructor is attached throughout and manages the exit, stability, and parachute deployment.
Canopy ride and landing
The parachute opens at altitude and the descent is quiet and controllable. Most instructors offer guests the opportunity to help steer. The views on the approach to Denarau — reef, marina, resort pools, and the lagoon — are part of why this jump location is consistently praised.
Landing is on Denarau Island. Beach landings happen when conditions allow; not every jump ends on sand.
Photo and video packages
Available to purchase separately:
- Hand Cam Video OR Stills: FJD $245
- Hand Cam Video AND Stills Combo: FJD $314
- Ultimate Package (outside camera flyer + handycam): FJD $565
The outside camera package is more expensive but produces footage from angles impossible to capture from the wrist mount. Most guests who purchase any media opt for the combo at minimum.
The footage is typically ready before you leave — USB delivery on the day.
What to wear
- Closed-toe shoes — required for safety
- Fitted, comfortable clothing — nothing loose or flowing (200+ km/h wind speed during freefall)
- Hair tie for long hair
- No loose jewellery or items in pockets
Practical notes
Weather: operations pause for non-flyable conditions. This is normal operational safety. Wet season brings more frequent short pauses — allow flexibility in your schedule.
Nervous jumpers: the instructors are experienced with first-timers across the full anxiety spectrum. Multiple reviews specifically mention how the team handled panicked guests with patience and good humour. If you’re apprehensive, tell your instructor.
Solo bookings: the team can often match solo jumpers with others to avoid unnecessary waits. Mention at booking if you’re jumping alone.

FAQs
Should I do the 10,000ft or go higher?
For a genuinely satisfying first skydive, the 10,000ft Radical is sufficient. For guests who want more time in freefall — or who have the Fiji backdrop in mind and want to maximize the aerial view time — the step up to 13,000ft is worth the premium. Both are excellent. Neither is a compromise.
How long does it take start to finish?
Plan for approximately 2 hours from arrival to departure. Allow extra time for weather-related pauses if you’re in wet season.
Is it suitable for someone who’s afraid of heights?
Many people with a stated fear of heights jump and report being surprised. The “heights” trigger is usually a visible edge with a void below — which is not what a pressurised aircraft door at 10,000ft activates in most people. The instructors are familiar with this and manage the approach to exit well.
Radical Jump: 10,000ft, ~30 seconds freefall. Same instructors and landing zone as higher-altitude options. Hotel transfers from Nadi/Denarau. Office on Denarau Road before the bridge. Weight minimum 40kg, maximum 115kg. Operates daily except Christmas Day.
